# Frosted Pearl Diary Sans & Black-Cherry Appointment Grid

A design language for restrained, hyper-legible, and editorial-quality diary interfaces.

---

## Philosophy

> "Elegance comes from alignment; legible proof builds truth."

This system creates interfaces that feel like a meticulously maintained personal diary or an elite reservation ledger. The design leans entirely on strict typographic alignment and raw photographic discipline. It eschews modern SaaS trends, relying instead on a deliberate, manually-placed editorial rhythm reminiscent of high-end print design and classic 2014-era structural minimalism.

### Core Beliefs

1. **Elegance through alignment** — The grid is absolute. Every section must feel manually placed and kerned by a careful graphic designer.
2. **Legible proof** — Raw data, reviews, and practical information are presented plainly and legibly, devoid of decorative wrappers.
3. **Disciplined imagery** — Photography carries the emotional weight. Interfaces are strictly image-led with meticulous cropping.
4. **Restraint in accenting** — The Black-Cherry accent is a scalpel. It is deployed exclusively for calls to action, active navigation states, and a single "proof" line.
5. **No decorative polish** — True confidence requires zero embellishment. We reject SaaS-card polish, rounded shadows, and floating containers.

### Strict Rules

* **Slim Light Navbar** — The top navigation must be structurally minimal, providing boundaries without bulk.
* **Image-Led Hero** — Pages anchor on a dominant, strictly cropped photograph.
* **Typographic Ceiling** — Hero headings are strictly sans-serif and capped permanently at a maximum of `3xl`.
* **Immediate Social Proof** — Star ratings must appear immediately; review-count statements must be perfectly centered.
* **Structural Utilitarianism** — Layouts strictly utilize three practical information columns and HTML-table-style menu rows.
* **Plain Location Details** — Addresses and coordinates are presented as raw text, entirely stripping map cards or custom pins.
* **Absolute Refusals** — The system completely forbids badges, avatars, beige tones, gradients, and icons.

## Color Palette

### The Core Scale & Accent

The palette is highly restricted, operating on a cool, paper-like foundation with deep, ink-like typography. The accent is a singular, mature dark red.

```css
:root {
  /* Canvas & Structure */
  --color-frosted-pearl: #FDFDFC;   /* Main canvas, background pages */
  --color-dove-grey: #E5E7EB;       /* Cool background modules, secondary areas */
  --color-platinum: #D1D5DB;        /* Crisp, thin divider lines and borders */
  --color-white: #FFFFFF;           /* Strict inner column backgrounds (if necessary) */
  /* Typography */
  --color-blue-black: #0F141E;      /* Primary headings, body copy, structural text */
  --color-blue-black-muted: #374151;/* Secondary information, plain location details */
  /* The Accent (Black-Cherry) */
  --color-black-cherry: #5E1929;    /* CTAs, active nav, single proof line */
  --color-black-cherry-hover: #4A0E1B;
  /* Social Proof */
  --color-gold-star: #D4AF37;       /* Golden review stars ONLY */
}
```

### Application Classes

```css
/* Backgrounds */
.bg-frosted      { background-color: var(--color-frosted-pearl); }
.bg-dove         { background-color: var(--color-dove-grey); }
.bg-cherry       { background-color: var(--color-black-cherry); }
/* Typography Colors */
.text-ink        { color: var(--color-blue-black); }
.text-ink-muted  { color: var(--color-blue-black-muted); }
.text-cherry     { color: var(--color-black-cherry); }
.text-gold       { color: var(--color-gold-star); }
/* Borders */
.border-platinum { border-color: var(--color-platinum); }
```

---

## Typography

Typography functions as the architectural scaffolding of the interface. The rhythm is extremely compact, utilizing a 2014-builder spacing model where baselines are nearly visible, and row heights remain mathematically consistent.

### Font Families

```css
:root {
  /* Headings: Avenir Next, Cabin, or Museo Sans */
  --font-heading: 'Avenir Next', 'Cabin', 'Museo Sans', sans-serif;
  /* Body: Source Sans 3, Lato, or PT Sans */
  --font-body: 'Source Sans 3', 'Lato', 'PT Sans', sans-serif;
}
```

### Font Size Scale (Strict Ceiling)

```css
/* The Strict Ceiling - Nothing larger than 3xl (approx 32px) */
.text-3xl { font-size: 2rem; line-height: 1.1; font-weight: 400; } /* Hero ONLY */
.text-2xl { font-size: 1.5rem; line-height: 1.2; font-weight: 500; }
.text-xl  { font-size: 1.25rem; line-height: 1.3; font-weight: 500; }
.text-lg  { font-size: 1.125rem; line-height: 1.4; font-weight: 500; }
.text-base{ font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.5; font-weight: 400; }   /* Standard Body */
.text-sm  { font-size: 0.875rem; line-height: 1.5; font-weight: 400; } /* Table Rows */
.text-xs  { font-size: 0.75rem; line-height: 1.5; font-weight: 600; }  /* Micro details */
```

### Typographic Rhythm

```css
.diary-content {
  font-family: var(--font-body);
  color: var(--color-blue-black);
  /* Visible baseline rhythm */
  line-height: 1.6;
  margin-bottom: 1.6rem;
}
.heading-hero {
  font-family: var(--font-heading);
  color: var(--color-blue-black);
  /* Absolute ceiling rule enforced */
  font-size: 2rem;
  letter-spacing: -0.02em;
  margin-bottom: 0.5rem;
}
```

---

## Imagery & Media

Imagery is the primary visual driver, substituting the need for gradients or icons.

### Aesthetic Rules
* **Motifs:** Black leather, rainlit glass, crisp paper receipts, lipstick marks.
* **Format:** Strict, disciplined cropping. No rounded corners (`border-radius: 0`).
* **Treatments:** High contrast, naturally lit, desaturated surrounding elements to allow the subject to breathe.

```css
.hero-image {
  width: 100%;
  height: auto;
  object-fit: cover;
  border-radius: 0; /* Strict adherence to sharp, manual cropping */
  border-bottom: 1px solid var(--color-platinum);
}
```

## Animation System

### Core Philosophy: Ink & Paper

Motion is brutally simple. There are no spring physics, no scaling components, and no slide-ins. Interaction is limited exclusively to soft fades and underline hovers, mimicking the static nature of a physical ledger.

### Allowed Interactions

```css
/* Soft Fades for state changes */
.fade-transition {
  opacity: 1;
  transition: opacity 0.3s ease-in-out;
}
.fade-transition:hover {
  opacity: 0.7;
}
/* Underline Hovers Only */
.nav-link {
  color: var(--color-blue-black);
  text-decoration: none;
  transition: text-decoration-color 0.2s ease;
}
.nav-link:hover,
.nav-link.active {
  text-decoration: underline;
  text-decoration-color: var(--color-black-cherry);
  text-underline-offset: 4px;
}
```

---

## UI Components & Layouts

### The Slim Light Navbar

```css
.navbar-slim {
  display: flex;
  justify-content: space-between;
  align-items: center;
  height: 48px; /* Extremely slim profile */
  background-color: var(--color-frosted-pearl);
  border-bottom: 1px solid var(--color-platinum);
  padding: 0 1.5rem;
  font-family: var(--font-heading);
  font-size: 0.875rem;
}
```

### Immediate Social Proof

```css
.review-module {
  display: flex;
  flex-direction: column;
  align-items: center;
  margin: 1.5rem 0;
}
.star-rating {
  color: var(--color-gold-star);
  font-size: 1.25rem;
  letter-spacing: 0.1em;
}
.review-count {
  text-align: center; /* Centered statement rule */
  color: var(--color-blue-black-muted);
  font-size: 0.875rem;
  margin-top: 0.5rem;
}
```

### Three Practical Information Columns

```css
.info-grid-3 {
  display: grid;
  grid-template-columns: repeat(3, 1fr);
  gap: 2rem;
  border-top: 1px solid var(--color-platinum);
  border-bottom: 1px solid var(--color-platinum);
  padding: 2rem 0;
}
.info-column {
  font-family: var(--font-body);
  color: var(--color-blue-black);
}
```

### HTML-Table-Style Menu Rows

Menus and lists reject modern "card" styling in favor of raw, tabular rows.

```css
.table-menu {
  width: 100%;
  border-collapse: collapse;
}
.table-menu-row {
  border-bottom: 1px solid var(--color-platinum);
}
.table-menu-cell {
  padding: 1rem 0;
  font-family: var(--font-body);
  color: var(--color-blue-black);
  vertical-align: top;
}
```

### Black-Cherry CTA

```css
.btn-cherry {
  background-color: var(--color-black-cherry);
  color: var(--color-white);
  font-family: var(--font-heading);
  font-size: 0.875rem;
  padding: 0.75rem 1.5rem;
  border: none;
  cursor: pointer;
  transition: background-color 0.2s ease;
  text-transform: uppercase;
  letter-spacing: 0.05em;
}
.btn-cherry:hover {
  background-color: var(--color-black-cherry-hover);
}
```

---

## Quality Checklist

* [ ] Is the hero heading strictly capped at `3xl` without exceptions?
* [ ] Are the review stars visually immediate and golden?
* [ ] Is the review-count statement perfectly centered beneath the stars?
* [ ] Are there exactly three columns used for practical information segments?
* [ ] Do menu lists resemble basic HTML tables with simple bottom borders?
* [ ] Are location details presented as plain text without map UI or pins?
* [ ] Is the Black-Cherry accent restricted purely to active states, CTAs, and a single proof line?
